INTERNAL MEDICINE

"Your pet seeing the Veterinarian once a year is the same
as if you were to see a physician only once every six to eight years."
                                        - Pet Health Brochure Series, AAHA

Preventative Wellness Exams are essential to a Pet's health for two main reasons:

1. They age relatively quicker than their owners
2. They are not able to tell us when they are hurt

The Physical Exam at MPAH is from Ears to Tail... and everything in between!

The Veterinarian will talk you through the examination of your pet's:

Ears
Eyes
Mouth
Teeth
Skin
Coat
Joints
Muscles
Heart
Lungs
Abdomen
Reproductive System

In addition, the Veterinarian will discuss the Patient's :
  • Daily activity
  • Any potential exposure to parasites, such as: Heartworms, Fleas, Ticks, Intestinal Parasites
  • Their diet and any weight gain or loss
  • Potential risks associated with their breed, lifestyle, age, gender, behavior, and more.
    • Based on the risks, the Veterinarian may have recommendations for Vaccinations, home life, diet, treatment, tests, and more.

Finally, based on the Patient's medical history, age, and results of the physical exam, the Veterinarian may recommend additional diagnostic tests, such as:
  • X-rays
  • Bloodwork
  • Urinalysis
  • Ultrasound
